
Prof. Dileep N. Malkhede is currently working at AICTE, New Delhi as an Adviser–I. Previously he was Professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering at College of Engineering, Pune (COEP). He obtained his Bachelors and Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering followed by doctoral degree from IIT Bombay. He has total of 29 years experience in teaching and industry.
As Adviser at AICTE, he is responsible for improving quality of technical education in India through several initiatives. He has launched RPS, MODROBs, Hostel for SC ST students, Seminar Grant, Conference Grants and scholarship schemes for girl students, physically challenged students, SC ST, M. Tech. / M. Pharm. students. Special schemes for North East India are designed for their development. His focus is quality improvement through faculty training with the help of ISTE, IITs, NITs, QIP centers and internship for students across india through MSME.
He has been instrumental in organizing Smart India Hackathon 2017, the nationwide students’ competition for solving citizen’s problems. The competition was supported by 27 different GoI ministries with 10,000 students participating in 36 Hrs long non-stop computer programming event simultaneously happening at 26 different cities in the country.
As an academician, he is approved Ph.D. guide. His area of research is IC Engines, its modeling and simulation and electronic controls. He has to his credit several journal and conference papers.
As a Professor and HoD at COEP, he transformed department by starting co-teaching for every course, setting up tinkerers labs for project based learning through teams of students such as Baja, Efficycle, Go-Kart and Solar Powered Car. BAJA – COEP has brought laurels not only to COEP by being national champion but also brought laurels to the country by excelling in Baja - South Africa and Baja-USA.
He has totally revolutionised the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Schemes that brought thousands of J & K students into mainstream by providing them educational opportunities in rest of India. These students are spread now across India and they are engaged in development of our motherland. He is a firm believer of solving Karshmir issue through education.
